LFLB Running Club News Update
June, 2005
Welcome to the June edition of our club news update. We hope you’re all enjoying this nice warm weather!
On May 21 a meeting of the club board was held at Lake Forest Bank. The meeting minutes are posted at the end of this note.
Several of our members participated in the Eagle River Races on May 5 in Eagle River, Wisconsin, including Anne and Gary Appel, who are now residents of Eagle River. Julian Gordon took first in his age group in the full marathon, and Cam Meyer placed second in her age in the half. The following note was received from Diana Schnell. Diana is a club member and is also the founder and director of the Equestrian Connection Races, which were held on April 24 in Independence Grove.
A special thanks to Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Running Club and all those who supported the Equestrian Connection Races. It was a great day, tho cold, and we had a successful event thanks to all of you. We are committed to conducting the best spring trail race ever so your support means so much to us. Thanks to our sponsors too!!!!!!!!! Lake Forest Health and Fitness, The Runner's Edge, Immanuel Church, and Whole Foods! There were many more who deserve thanks. Diana
Coming Events:
Saturday, June 18 Breakfast Meet ‘n Greet
Bring a friend or neighbor along to the run and join us afterward for coffee, juice and breakfast treats. Your social chairs would like volunteers to bring some breakfast baked goods, so this is your chance to try out that new muffin recipe. See you there.
Friday, July 15 Summer Cookout 6PM
The cookout will be at Barry Seiller’s house, 881 N. Sheridan Rd, at the corner of Sheridan and Westminster. The club will provide burgers and brats; please bring an appetizer, salad or dessert to share.
Membership News from Bill Bracken:
For the past several weeks the new club directory has been distributed to members showing up to run on Saturdays and it has reached about half the membership. The remaining directories were mailed to the rest of the members on June 7.
I'd like to acknowledge the contributions of Keith Stewart in getting the directory completed. He did an excellent job of formatting, publishing and updating events as well as choosing the goldenrod cover. The correctness of the content, however, was my responsibility so any complaints or corrections should be sent to me.
If you want to know what year your membership is paid through, check the upper right corner of the label on your directory. Renewals can be taken care of by either downloading a membership form from the club website (http://lflb.org) or obtaining one at a Saturday morning run and mailing it (with a check, of course) to LFLB Running Club, PO Box 386, Lake Forest, IL 60045 Attn: Membership. While everyone is welcome to run with us, members who are past due on their annual membership will no longer be retained in the directory.
Please extend a welcome to the following new member:
Sondra Pfeffer
