Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Running Club

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season, and a happy new year! The first month as President has been pretty exciting and I am really looking forward to 2010! It seems that there is a really positive energy and a desire by so many to bring this club to a new level. There have been a lot of great ideas presented to me, and I am sure there will be even more in the coming months. I appreciate the input and the assistance I have been getting from so many of you. If you feel like you have a good idea, please do not hesitate to tell me! This is our running club!

Running Club News

Our first board meeting of 2010 was this past Saturday, January 2 at the Lake Forest Bank. A few key issues that were discussed!
  • New club merchandise will be ordered soon. There will also be a form available for orders. Lauri Johnson has volunteered for this position, if you have any questions, please contact her.

  • The Club Directory is being printed and should be available very soon.

  • Race results will be added to the website. If you race and would like your results listed on the website, please email the race directors!

  • A new board position Special Events Coordinator has been created to manage larger events such as the Tim Plum Run.

  • A committee is being formed to determine the expectations of club members and plan the future direction of the running club. Bill Bracken has been nominated to head up this committee!

  • Meet & Greets will now be held every other month!

Social News

In lieu of the Chilly Chili, we will have a February Meet & Greet. This will be on Saturday, February 13. Coffee, bagels and other yummy treats will be provided after the run. Please feel free to bring something to share!

The Board has decided that due to the popularity of the Meet & Greets, we will try to have one every couple of months. We hope that this will encourage new membership and it’s also a great way to get to know each other!

Race News

Registration has opened for the Shamrock Shuffle. It is the first race on the CARA Runners Choice Circuit and it filled up by the end of January last year! If you want to run, sign up soon!
