Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Running Club - November 2007
Upcoming Club Events
The Thanksgiving Day Plum Run will be held on Thanksgiving morning, starting at 8AM, at the WEST Lake Forest train station. It's a great way to start the day, with a 5K or 10K fun run before stuffing yourself on turkey and trimmings. There are always fabulous prizes following the run.
Volunteers are needed to help with setup and cleanup. Let Miki Tosic know if you are able to help out. And there will also be a food drive benefiting the Northern Illinois Food Pantry. Please don't forget to bring some non-perishable food items.
Our annual Holiday Party will be held on Friday, December 7, at the Highland Park Country Club on Park Ave. in Highland Park. Don't miss it ! Our social directors are planning another great evening of good food, awards, entertainment and dancing.
If you are interested in singing a song (karaoke machine available) and competing for the prestigious title of 'Lake Forest/Lake Bluff RC Idol for 2008', please contact Rick Young at 847-234-8391 (office) or 847-917-2894 (cell). The winner will receive fabulous prizes and the promise of a national tour (on foot of course... we are a running club). Solos, groups and animal acts are all encouraged to compete. Randy, Paula and Simon are eagerly waiting to judge your talent.

RUNNER OF THE MONTH
The Runner of the Month for October is Joanne Vukovics. After a long lay-off from running, Joanne completed the Chicago Marathon, braving the heat to finish in a fine time of 4:24:01. Keep up the good work, and congratulations, Joanne.
(Ed. Note: An interesting side note.. while proof reading the above, I found that I had typed Marathong, an appropriate slip considering the weather that day. A new type of running attire for our merchandise people to consider?)
