LF/LBRC Update - September 21,2007
September 29
Saturday, September 29 will be a busy day at the train station. The Nike reps will once again be there before and after our run to demo their latest shoe models, including their new iPod Nano Running Shoe technology. You will be welcome to try out the shoes on a first-come first-served basis.
In conjunction with the shoe demo, our Social Directors are also planning a Meet N' Greet following the run. Join us for coffee, juice, bagels, etc. and invite your running friends and neighbors.
And club board members, don't forget the board meeting which will start after the run, the shoe demo and the Meet N' Greet... around 10AM at the Lake Forest Bank.
2007 Chicago Marathon Aid Station
Once again the club will help man the aid station at mile 23.2 (Aid Station #13), along with the Gurnee Running Club and the Abbott Rabbitts. If you haven't already signed up, you have until 9/26 to register and reserve a cool 2007 Marathon jacket and hat. (Note: Due to insurance limitations, children under age 13 are not eligible to volunteer.)
This is the 30th Anniversary of the marathon, which will be on Sunday, October 7. The race starts at 8AM. The station is located on South Michigan Avenue, between 33rd and 35th Streets. Check-in is at the corner of Michigan and 34th. In order to be sure of receiving your jacket and hat, you should try to check in by 7:15. The 'elite' runners are expected at our station around 9:45, and the wheelchairs at 9:25. The station closes officially at 1:45PM.
Directions: From the Dan Ryan Expressway (90/94) take the 35th St. exit (55A). Go east 3 blocks to the aid station area on S. Michigan Ave. Park and walk to 34th and Michigan to meet our group and claim a jacket and hat. Note: Michigan Ave. is one-way going south.
